Increase of quarantine charges and import Entry
Fees effective 1st July 2025
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has completed its comprehensive review of the biosecurity cost recovery arrangement. The outcome proposes changes to existing regulatory charging to align fees and charges with the cost to deliver biosecurity and imported food activities.
The increases will affect the amount importers pay in the “other charges” payable on their formal import declarations. The increase in the Full Import Declaration charge for sea cargo (Sea FID) for each declared consignment arriving by sea from $66 to $68 and for air cargo (air FID) from $45 to $46, commencing on 1st July 2025.
This will result in the standard charge on a containerized sea freight declaration with a customs value over $10K will increase from $218.00 to $220.00, and an air freight declaration from $197 to $198.
There will also be an increase at Quarantine document assessment processing fees for goods subject to quarantine or IFIP. An entry able to be released/directed by Teleport under Automatic Entry Processing arrangements will increase from $20 to $22 quarantine fee. Documents processed by DAFF will now be charged $40 per 15 minutes, increasing from the current $39 charge.
